Weekend Recap December 1st

Weekend Recap December 1

This past weekend's NJHL action saw a wide range of scoring and scorers as the season continues to show vast improvement on individual and team levels. Friday's most exciting contest was a great battle between the Lac La Biche Lakers and the  Northern Alberta Lightning.  The game was a seesaw battle which saw the lightning claw back and send the game to OT with a  pair of Nolan Sanderson goals, including one with only 49 seconds left in regulation. The Lakers were able to pull out the win with an Aven Skeenum game winner. After a tight 3-2 first period, the Crowsnest Crush, led by the league scoring leader Raiden Peter's hat trick, doubled up the Claresholm Thunder 10-5. Fridays other slated game (High Prairie in Redwater) had to be rescheduled due to weather/bus issues. The High Prairie Redwings and Edson Eagles continues their "high flying" ways as they beat the Redwater Pioneers and the Lakers 5-1 and 10-1 respectively. The Vulcan Rampage, led by a Nikylo Emerson hat trick,  got the best of the Claresholm Thunder, 7-4 in the other contest that night. Sunday's only contest was a revenge match between the Lakers and the Lightning, that did not disappoint. The contest went through regulation and overtime tied 6-6, and Steven Mackinaw sniping the only goal and game winner in the shootout.
